Green Coffee Bean Extract

Of all the beverages that this modern world has invented, coffee is one of the most loved and consumed. But whether coffee is a healthy or otherwise has been an issue in the medical community. More so today, because a recent clinical trial has revealed that green coffee beans or uncooked, raw coffee beans may have elements that could reduce body fat and enhance weight loss.

The medical communities, for years, have acknowledged that fact that coffee has antioxidant properties.  The coffee beans, whether its Robusta or Arabica, it is rich in antioxidants. Chlorogenic acid is the compound that researchers believe may be responsible for the weight loss exhibited by subjects who took green coffee bean supplements.  This is according to the recent study conducted and was published in January 2012. The chlorogenic acid found in green coffee beans is an antioxidant.  It slows down the release of glucose into the blood stream after a meal.  This is  effect is beneficial for people who have type 2 diabetes or people who are at risk of developing the disease.

The green coffee bean study brought together a random group of obese men and women who were asked not to change their eating habits and lifestyle during the research.  They were grouped based on given doses of 1,050-mg and 700-mg green coffee bean extract.  Still another group was given placebo.  Six weeks later, the results were promising for the green coffee bean extract. Participants who were taking the green coffee bean lost an average of 16 to 17 lbs. each.  A significant amount of weight lost at a short length of time.  The researchers measured each participant’s body weight, body mass index, and percentage of body fat and in all aspects before and after. And they have found that indeed there was a significant reduction in all of these aspects for everyone who was given the green coffee extract.

There were three clinical trials, all of which were analysed independently by other medical researchers.  The independent analyses supports the results and   conclude that the green coffee bean extract have weight loss effects although they were concerned that the results greatly vary – suggesting that more studies should be done.

Green Coffee Bean Supplements have been available in the market for quite some time and so far there have been no reported adverse side effects. The supplements are manufactured and formulated so that it contains adequate amounts of antioxidants but not too much of the caffeine. Nevertheless, it is still advisable to consult your doctor before taking the supplements especially if you are taking regular medication.
